American Red Cross Centennial – Founded by Clara Barton in 1881 and chartered by Congress in 1901, the American Red Cross runs the world’s largest donor blood service.

After the British moved into Virginia, George Washington and the Comte de Rochambeau combined their French and American armies. The British commander, Cornwallis, was forced to surrender, bringing an end to the war and the beginning of American independence.
