Commemorative Set Highlights:

HemisFair (#1340) – Publicizes the opening of the HemisFair ‘68 regional exhibition at San Antonio, Texas.  This exhibition was held in honor of San Antonio’s 250th anniversary.

Walt Disney (#1355) – Born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1901, Walt Disney created some of the most famous cartoon characters in history.  In addition, Disney envisioned the construction of two theme parks that bear his name.

Daniel Boone (#1357)– Remembers the American pioneer who settled in Kentucky and founded Boonesboro.  His frontier exploits and his adoption by the Shawnee Indians earned him a place in American folklore.

Leif Erikson (#1359) – Memorializes Leif Erikson, the 11th century Norse explorer who was the first European to set foot upon the North American continent.

John Trumbull (#1361) – This Colonial patriot and artist is commemorated for his dramatic recording of many Revolutionary War events.  Trumbull served as an aid to General Washington and is best remembered for his portraits of Washington after he became our first President.

Waterfowl Conservation (#1362) – This stamp honors the achievements of Ducks Unlimited, a non-profit group dedicated to increasing resources for waterfowl and promoting conservation in North America.

American Indian (# 1364)– Issued to honor the American Indian, the stamp pictures Chief Joseph of the Nez Percé tribe.  Chief Joseph was famous for his war strategy, as well as his courage, honor, and the consideration he showed his enemies.
