I’m really impressed with this collection of Antigua stamps, which is almost exclusively in fresh mint condition.  (You’ll find only about 30 postally used stamps out of 580+.)  The collection of 40 album pages starts off with Scott #8, issued in 1873, plus a range of stamps of the Victorian era.  From there, it runs through the reigns of succeeding British monarchs until late 1993.  That’s 120 years of historic high-quality stamps showing the evolution of this ex-British colony from its early days to modern times.  Best of all, you save almost half off the estimated Scott Catalogue pricing of over $1600.  It’s a tremendous value!

Antigua’s stamps in this collection highlight the changes in its status and history through the years:  From British possession to separate colony to independent state and its re-birth as a fully independent member of the British Commonwealth.

Antigua stamps produced with the fine engraving typical of British colonies’ issues of the 1930-60s appeal to me as a collector.  And there are many of these gorgeous commemoratives, looking like they were printed yesterday.  They include the 1937 Coronation and Silver Jubilee Issues as well as the 1946 Peace Issue, 1949 Silver Wedding, and UPU Issues.  I love the beautiful early 1900s stamps issued during the reign of King Edward the VII, too.

Besides the many Omnibus issues, the collection includes the only Back-of-the-Book stamps issued by Antigua.  (The addition of War Tax Stamps of 1916-18 was required on letters and packages to help fund World War I.)  There are also plenty of great modern sets, like the 1976 and 78 Flora and Fauna, the fun Disneys of the 1980s, the wedding of Charles and Diana.  Plus two complete sets overprinted with “Independence 1981” marking that historic event.  One of my favorite modern Antigua issues is the mint set paying tribute to our Statue of Liberty.

Check out this impressive collection in our video, which shows you every single page.  To take a closer look, just hit your pause button or space bar when you see a page you’d like to examine.  Hit it again to restart the action.  Going to a full screen will make it easier, too.  It’s that easy and the best way to see exactly what you’re getting – lots of value for your money!
