 2020 World Heritage Sites Showcase Russia's History

On September 11, 2020, the United Nations Postal Administration issued another set of six stamps picturing UNESCO World Heritage Sites.  That year, sites in the Russian Federation were featured.

The €1 stamp issued by the Vienna UN office pictures the Novodevichy Convent.  It was founded in 1524 and continues to serve as a cloister.  The €1.80 stamp highlights wooden churches located on Kizhi Island known as Kizhi Pogost.  These 18th-century building were constructed of wood using no nails.  In recent years, other churches have been moved to the island for preservation.
