Pictured on one of the Vienna stamps, the Kenya Lake System in the Rift Valley Province contains three linked shallow lakes. These lakes are home to some of the greatest diversities in bird species in the world. This includes 13 globally threatened bird species. The area became a World Heritage Site in 2011.
The Medina of Marrakesh, located in central Morocco, was added to the World Heritage List in 1985. The Islamic capital was founded in the 11th century and served as a major political, economic, and cultural center. It is home to several monuments, including the famous Koutoubiya Mosque, the Kasbah, the Bandiâ Palace, the Ben Youssef Madrasa, the Saadian Tombs, and Jamaâ El Fna square, an open-air theatre.
