# UNV376-79 - 2006 Endangered Species
Endangered Species
This is the fourteenth issue of the Endangered Species Series, introduced in 1993 to focus attention on protection of endangered species worldwide. The 2006 issues feature six frogs, four of them poisonous, three chameleons, and three boas.
Two poisonous frogs pose on the Offices in Vienna stamps for this series, the red-and-blue poison frog, found in the tropical forests of Central America, and the yellow-banded poison frog common to rain forests in northern South America. Also shown on this four-stamp se-tenant are the carpet chameleon of Madagascar and the Amazon tree boa. When waiting to ambush prey, this snake sits on a branch with the front of its body coiled in an s-curve, ready to strike. There is great demand for the Amazon tree boa in the live pet trade.
