# UNV178 - 1995 United Nations 50th Anniversary
50th Anniversary of the U.N.
On January 1, 1995, the United Nations entered into its 50th year of existence. The slogan adopted for the anniversary, “We the Peoples of the United Nations – United for a Better World,” summarizes the commitment on which the U.N. was founded. According to U.N. officials, the organization’s continued success is dependent upon basic resources – political and financial backing from member states, as well as support from the general public. Without these basic resources, the U.N. would not be able to continue fulfilling the mandates of the U.N. Charter over the course of the next 50 years. These stamps were created by one of the U.N.’s staff designers, Rocco J. Callari.
