These Sport for Peace stamps were issued by the Vienna Office of the United Nations in 2022. The stams were issued to commemorate the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. The XXIV Olympic Winter Games were held from February 4 – February 20, 2022. In December 2021, the UN General Assembly took part in the Olympic Truce for Beijing 2022, reflecting on the way sports help promote peace between countries that otherwise struggle to see eye to eye. The truce began seven days before the start of the Olympic Games and ended seven days after the conclusion of the Paralympic Games. This was the first time the UN issued stamps for the Winter Olympic Games. There were four stamps issued by each United Nations office.
