Offices in Geneva
Indigenous people carry on unique cultural traditions that are different from those of the dominant societies in which they live. There are an estimated 370 million indigenous people in 90 countries around the world. Although they come from different cultures, they share the same challenges, including a lack of basic health care and education, loss of land, discrimination, forced assimilation, poverty, human rights violations, and economic and social marginalization.
The Geneva stamps feature: Basha Blunderbuss Boy, painted in China in 2012; Turquoise, Coral and Circumambulation, painted in China in 2012; Bactrian Camel Cowboy, painted in Mongolia in 2012; Never Forgot to Play, painted in Mexico in 1998; Red Feathers, painted in Papua New Guinea in 2011; and Haitian Sunshine Girl, painted in Haiti in 2010.
