# UNG490-91 - 2008 UN Geneva We Can End Poverty
In 2007, as part of the celebration of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, children from all over the world were invited to participate in an art contest. More than 12,000 children from 124 countries between the ages of five and fifteen took part in the competition.
The children created artwork emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperation among the people of the world to fight poverty. The focus of many of the designs was the significant role education and employment play in helping the poor. Six winning designs were announced in October 2007 and placed on the “We Can End Poverty” stamps.
