# UNG444-45 - 2005 World Heritage Egypt
The eleventh addition to the World Heritage Series showcased six ancient and historic sites in Egypt whose existence is threatened. Most of these were put on the World Heritage List in 1979.
The Nubian monuments from the temples of Abu Simbel and Philae were threatened by flooding when it was decided to build the Aswan Dam. After an expression of international concern, the temples were dismantled and reassembled on dry ground. The Temple of Isis appears on the F.s. 1,00 stamp.
