The eleventh installment of the Endangered Species Series was issued April 3, 2003, and celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). This issue focuses on endangered species of waterfowl.
The F.s. 0,90 stamps show Red-breasted Goose, the Bald Ibis, the Fulvous Whistling Duck, and the Channel-billed Toucan. The Bald Ibis is found only in the highlands of Southern Africa, where it feeds in low grass. The birds declined dramatically in the twentieth century, but now have a stable population of about 5,000 to 8,000.
