Keep Your United Nations Stamp Collection Up to Date

This International Day of Peace Semi-postal stamp was issued by the New York Office of the United Nations in 2021. The International Day of Peace (World Peace Day) is celebrated on September 21st every year.  The United Nations has called it "a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.  It is an occasion for all of humanity to put aside their differences and contribute to promoting a culture of peace worldwide."  Since 2021 marked the 50th anniversary of John Lennon's famous song "Imagine," the United Nations decided to issue stamps commemorating the artist and his personal work in advocating for world peace.  A surcharge was added to the stamps and souvenir sheets to go toward the United Nations' peacekeeping operations.
