Artist Jaime Arredondo designed the three-stamp definitive series that focuses on roses. The stamps are issued only at the New York City headquarters in 2009, and come in 1-, 9-, and 10-cent denominations. Arredondo titled his works Cielo rosado (pink sky), Rosa de sangre (bleeding rose), and Espíritu de mujer (spirit woman).
Arredondo painted the roses based on photos he took. His work focuses on the colors and lighting of the American Southwest, where he was born. Arredondo graduated from Yale University with a Master in Fine Arts, and teaches painting and drawing at New York University.
