 In December 2006, the United Nations adopted the charter to ensure that all people with disabilities are granted the human rights and freedoms they deserve.  The New York Accessibility stamp pictures the international symbol of access.  The convention states that all nations should assure disabled people  the ability to live independently and have equal access.  The Braille stamp features the letters “UN” embossed and raised, so it can be touched and read.  Braille is an important means of communication for the blind that was developed by Louis Braille in 1821.
