2008 41c UN Flag & Coin

The New York stamps feature the flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, 2 pounds; the Singapore flag, 5 dollars; the Philippines flag, 1 peso; the Indonesia flag, 500 rupiah; and the Colombia flag, 500 pesos.  Also shown are the Sri Lanka flag, 10 rupees; the United Arab Emirates flag, 1 dirham; and the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya flag, 500 dinars.  

The flag of Singapore features a white crescent moon with five stars on a red background above a white rectangle.  The moon symbolizes the young nation, while the stars stand for democracy, peace, progress, justice, and equality.  The red stands for “universal brotherhood and equality of man,” while the white represents purity and virtue.
