# UN871-72 - 2004 Human Rights, 2 stamps
The importance of human rights is stated in the Preamble to the Charter of the United Nations: “...faith in the fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of Nations large and small.”
2004 marked the end of the U.N. Decade for Human Rights Education. The UNPA commemorated the end of this important decade with stamp designs based on a mural by the Armenian artist Yuroz Gevorgian.
The left tab of each mini-sheet contains the artist’s statement about the designs. This is the first time this information has been incorporated into UNPA stamp sheets.
