2002 Johannesburg Summit

$7.75

Choose Option:

Agenda 21, a global plan for sustainable development, was adopted at the 1992  Earth Summit.  The 2002 Johannesburg Summit hoped to build on the knowledge gained over the past ten years and to better implement Agenda 21.  The goal is to improve the quality of life for all people without sacrificing the ability of future generations to satisfy their needs.

The vibrantly colored, cartoon-like Johannesburg Summit stamps were designed by U.S. artist Peter Max.  Previously, he created the U.N. stamps for the 1992 Earth Summit and for the Earth Summit + 5 Conference of 1997.  Max also designed the first U.S. “Preserve the Environment” stamp in 1974.
