1999 World Flags
The first installment of the United Nations flag series was issued September 26, 1980. It features the flags of 16 member nations. Each flag is accurately reproduced in terms of scale and color. The series continued until 1989, when the flags of all the member nations had been honored.
The series was revived in 1997, with the admission of new countries to the U.N. On February 5, 1999, the flags of eight new member nations were commemorated, bringing the total number of flag stamps issued to 184. The eight flags represent Lithuania, San Marino, Turkmenistan, Marshall Islands, Republic of Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Eritrea.
