The London 2012 Paralympic Games were the largest to date, with 4,302 athletes from 164 nations competing in 503 events in 20 sports.
The 2012 Sport for Peace stamps launch event was held at the Vienna International Centre. Among the events of the day was a table tennis exhibition between members of the Austrian Paralympic Team and the U.N. table tennis club.
The souvenir sheet issued by the New York office pictures sitting volleyball. Sitting volleyball has been part of the Paralympic Games since 1980. A women’s event was added to the program in 2004.
