1962 Malaria Eradication

These stamps show the female mosquito whose bite spreads the disease from person to person.  Malaria claims tens of thousands of lives each year, mostly among children and adolescents.  Mosquitoes have become resistant to many insecticides, so researchers have stepped up their efforts to find a vaccine that can help eradicate the disease.
