Produced by Colorano, this set of two covers honorsthe launch and return of the Space Shuttle Columbia’s 25th mission, STS-90 (the 90th mission of the Space Shuttle program). 

These popular Colorano covers feature “silk” cachets that are produced through a special screening process and then bonded to the envelope.  Each cachet pictures a photo from the mission and is surrounded by a golden border.  The covers bear patriotic US stamps and cancellations relating to events from the mission.  You can discover the story behind each one with the informative captions next to the cachets.

Launched on April 17, 1998, STS-89 lasted sixteen days, returning May 3.  This was the final flight of the European Space Agency's Spacelab laboratory.  Experiments performed during the mission focused on the effects of microgravity on the nervous system.
