This set of three silk covers commemorates the flights of SpaceShipOne, the first private spacecraft to reach suborbit.  The covers all bear a Mojave, California, postmark, where the craft took off and landed.  June 21, 2004, was the date pilot Mike Melvill traveld outside the Earth's atmospere.  On September 29, Melvill once again piloted the craft to a height of 337,000 feet to attain the first step in winning the Ansari X-Prize for the first private spacecraft to make two trips to the edge of Earth's atmosphere within two weeks.  The second flight took place on October 4, with Brian Binnie as pilot.  This trip assured the makers of SpaceShipOne the X-Prize and the $10 million reward that accompanied it.

This set marks an important time in America's space history.  It will make a neat addition to your collection.  Order your set today.
