# MUS090 - 1939 Eaton's Fine Letter Papers Advertising Poster Stamps, Set of 7
American Poster Stamps Represent History of Eaton Paper Company, Massachusetts
This is your chance to own seven Poster stamps produced by the American Bank Note Company in 1938 for use by the Eaton Paper Company of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The Poster stamps were included in the company's paper orders in 1939 and picture views of New York City. Their release was to coincide with the opening of the 1939 New York World's Fair.
Interestingly, these Poster stamps ended up looking so much like true postage stamps that some people began trying to use them to send mail. The US Post Office Department ended up telling Eaton to discontinue the Poster stamps. The American Bank Note Company destroyed the printing plates and no one knows for sure how many of these Poster stamps exist, and this (along with their neat history) has made them quite popular with collectors. You'll love owning them, too, so order yours today.
