Old Airmail stamps issued between 1926 and 1959 are hard to find. Every stamp in this collection has its own American story. Truly history you hold in your hand. Stamps let you to travel through time when airplanes were new and risky and the future exciting.

It’s hard to imagine the early days of airplanes. These brave pilots were national heroes because of their courage in the face of danger.

Take a look at some of the history these stamps capture...
• Four 1941 Big Plane stamps picture an aircraft that didn’t exist – if it did, the bottom of the tail would be torn off as it took off. Design based on the DC-3, Lockheed Electra and Beech 18.

• Up until 1925 the government flew the mail. Then, private companies were contracted, and the 15¢ and 20¢ Biplane Map stamps were issued for that service. Ford was the first contractor that flew mail.

• 1952 80¢ Hawaii Fountainhead stamp paid rate for an orchid from Hawaii to the States.

• 1948 5¢ airplane shows DC-4 Sky Master, which played a critical role in the Allied war effort and the Berlin Airlift of 1948-49. First airmail coil stamp.
