1870 6c carmine Lincoln on cover postmarked in Williamsburg on November 23, 1872. Front bears bright vermilion orange marking dated November 23 showing "NEW YORK PAID ALL DIRECT." There is also an orange rectangular box that reads "BREMEN 1 12 72 FRANCO" (Franco means paid). Reverse has "Barmen" receiving back stamp. A neat cover sent a year after the rate to send mail from the U.S. to the German states dropped from 7c to 6c.
