1870 10c brown Jefferson on cover postmarked in New Orleans on July 9. Front is hand stamped "PAID-ONLY TO ENGLAND." At the time, the U.S. retained 10c of the single rate on letters sent from the U.S. to foreign countries and sent through England. Because of that, the cover is marked "8.R" for collection in Spain. The cover has been reduced, so some of the address and backstamps have been cut away. Still a very nice piece of Trans-Atlantic postal history.
