1859 10c Washingtons (#35) and 1c Franklin (#24) on Folded Letter to Calcutta, India

Two 1859 10c green Washington Type V and one 1857 1c blue Franklin Type V frank this folded letter sent from Boston, Massachusetts, to Calcutta, India. The 21c postage only carried the letter to Britain; from there it was handled as unpaid. Each stamp is canceled by a large "PAID" circular-lined cancel. Back side has Boston Exchange Office backstamp. Back side also has London stamp and "Calcutta Steam liner 1861 Jun 26" stamp. Cover is accompanied by detailed history of its travels by previous owner.
