Mint Souvenir Sheet Honors RMS Lusitania

This mint Ghana stamp commemorates the famous passenger liner that was sunk by a German U-boat in 1915.  Its destruction was one of the reasons America joined World War I two years later.  This stamp pictures a vintage photograph of the Lusitania en route to its next destination.

The selvage of the souvenir sheet includes schematic drawings of the Lusitania as well as a paragraph which reads:  "The Royal Mail Ship 'Lusitania' was made with the most luxurious furnishing and equipped with the strongest engines of the time.  In 1915, a German U-boat sank the RMS Lusitania during her final voyage from New York to Liverpool.  Her destruction would later influence America's decision to issue a declaration of war in 1917."

This mint souvenir sheet offers a glimpse into important world history.  Add it to your collection today.
