Mint Sheet Honors 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

This mint sheet includes five stamps picturing the world-famous Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.  The stamps were issued by St. Vincent and The Grenadines and include historical photographs showing the site over the years.  The selvage includes the text found on the tomb:  "HERE RESTS IN HONORED GLORY AN AMERICAN SOLDIER KNOWN BUT TO GOD."  It also includes the following information:  "The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a monument dedicated to deceased US service members whose remains have not been identified during both World Wars, Korean War, and Vietnam War.  Assembly of the Tomb began in September 1931 and was completed with the inscription in April 1932.

In reality, the first Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was approved on March 4, 1921, but it wasn't until 1931 that the more elaborate version we know today was built.
