History the stamp represents:  Caribbean flamingos can be found on the north coast of South America, the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, and on various Caribbean islands.  They gather in large colonies that consist of a few dozen to hundreds of thousands of birds.  They are known for their elaborate vocalizations and brightly colored feathers.
