Are You Missing Britain’s First Fully Barcoded Christmas Stamps?
Get a complete set of six 2022 Great Britain Christmas stamps now. These were the first Great Britain Christmas stamps to be fully barcoded. In 2022, Great Britain began adding barcodes to all of its regular (definitive) and Christmas stamps. Special stamps – pictorial issues commemorating events – were not barcoded.
Barcodes were introduced to provide added security and to send videos and greetings. Mailers could scan the barcode, creating a “digital twin” in the Royal Mail app, and create a birthday message or other greeting for the recipient. At the time of the rollout, all of the barcodes led to the same video of Shaun the Sheep, which was created especially for the Royal Mail. These barcodes are one of the Royal Mail’s efforts to modernize and innovate.
The rates covered by these stamps include Second Class, Second Class Large, First Class, First Class Large, £1.85, and £2.55. Stamp designs were created using new illustrations by artist Katie Ponder. Add all six to your collection today.
