In 2020, Canada Post issued this whimsical souvenir sheet of three stamps featuring folk artist Maud Lewis’s paintings Winter Sleigh Ride, Team of Oxen, and Family and Sled.  One of Canada’s most beloved folk artists, Lewis had juvenile arthritis and birth defects that gave her intense pain in her fingers.  But painting was one of her greatest joys in life.  When she couldn’t afford supplies, her husband brought her scraps of drywall and house paint.  And even when she did have canvases, her art extended onto the walls of her home, which became her greatest masterpiece.
