Issued in 1997, this fun mint Gambia souvenir sheet honors Mickey's Journey to the West.  It pictures Mickey and Donald riding the Intelligent Tortoise with Master San Tang, also known as Wu-Kong Sun, who calls himself the Monkey King.  The scene is taken from the classic Chinese Novel, Journey to the West.  Published in 1592, the novel tells of the legendary pilgrimage of Tang dynasty Buddhist monk Xuanzang who traveled to India to find sacred texts (sūtras).
