Discover Disney's Casey at the Bat

This fun 1993 Gambia souvenir sheet features a scene from the Disney short Casey at the Bat.  Based on an 1888 poem by Ernest Thayer, the Disney cartoon was initially released as part of the 10-segment anthology Make Mine Music.  It was narrated by comedian and musician Jerry Colonna and later released as an individual short in 1954.

This sheet pictures the first batter from Casey's team, the Mudville Nine.  In the story, the first two batters strike out, disappointing fans, who don't expect the next two batters to fare well.  But when they both get on base, the Mighty Casey steps up to bat, representing the potential winning run.  However, Casey was so overconfident in his skills, he didn't swing at the first two pitches, which were strikes.  He then strikes out on the last pitch, losing the game and upsetting his fans and team.
