Issued in 1998, this Central Africa souvenir sheet features a scene from the 1942 Disney book, "Mickey Mouse and the Magic Lamp." The scene was illustrated by famed Mickey artist Floyd Gottfredson. Gottfredson was brought in as a short-term replacement on the Mickey daily comic strip in 1930, but would go on to illustrate the strip for 45 years.
This souvenir sheet also commemorates Mickey's 70th birthday. Since his debut in the short film Steamboat Willie in 1928, Mickey has become one of the most recognizable cartoon characters in the world.
