1998 Disney Celebrate Mickey's 70th Birthday, Mint Sheet of 5 Stamps, Central Africa

Issued in 1998, this fun Central Africa mint sheetlet of five stamps was issued to honor famed Mickey comic strip artist Floyd Gottfredson.  Each stamp pictures a scene from one of Gottfredson's classic Mickey comic strips.  They include:

    • Mickey Delivers Airmail (May 1982)
    • Mickey and the Submarine Pilot (July 1982)
    • Mickey and the Bat Bandit (October 1982)
    • Mickey at Blaggard Castle (March 1983)
    • Mickey and his Horse Tanglefoot (October 1982)

These stamps also commemorate Mickey's 70th birthday.  Since his debut in the short film Steamboat Willie in 1928, Mickey has become one of the most recognizable cartoon characters in the world.
