1998 Disney Celebrate Mickey's 70th Birthday, Mint Sheet of 5 Stamps, Central Africa

Issued in 1998, this fun Central Africa mint sheetlet of five stamps was issued to honor famed Mickey comic strip artist Floyd Gottfredson.  Each stamp pictures a scene from one of Gottfredson's classic Mickey comic strips.  They include:

    • Mickey in the World of Tomorrow (November 1980)
    • Mickey has Problems with Love (March 1981)
    • Mickey and the Phantom Blot (June 1981)
    • Mickey in the Foreign Legion (September 1981)
    • Mickey at the North Pole (March 1982)

These stamps also commemorate Mickey's 70th birthday.  Since his debut in the short film Steamboat Willie in 1928, Mickey has become one of the most recognizable cartoon characters in the world.
