

In 2009, the US Mint began issuing $1 coins in accordance with Public Law 110-82, the Native American One Dollar Coin Act. Each coin features a portrait of Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste on the "heads" side. She was first featured on the Sacagawea Golden Dollar issued 2000-2008. A special yearly design is pictured on the "tails" side.
