Camp Douglas, 3¢ Rose tied by blue "Chicago, Ill. Sep. 16" postmark. Censor oval handstamp and "Guilfords Solten acknowledging the receipt of money and other things at Camp Douglas" docketing at left. To Danville, KY. Very Fine condition.
Interesting historical note: The majority of Confederate soldiers from Kentucky that were captured by Union forces were from Morgan's Raiders. Most were sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago, the largest Union prisoner-of-war camp for Confederate soldiers taken prisoner during the war.
