A Maximum Card features a stamp and cancel on the picture side of a postcard. The stamps, cancel, and picture are designed to be in maximum concordance, which means to match as closely as possible without reproducing the stamp image. 

This stamp honors the 250th anniversary of New York's Bellevue Hospital Center, the oldest operational hospital in the country.  In 1736, Bellevue opened with a six-bed infirmary. Today, it is one of the largest hospitals in the United States. The stamp is the first to picture a hospital.
