The surrender of German forces in northwestern Europe was signed on May 4, 1945.

War Uproots Millions

After 6 years of war, some 50 million Europeans had been uprooted and left wandering the ravaged countryside.

First Atomic Bomb Dropped on Japan

Equivalent to 20,000 tons. Led to Japan surrendering to Allied forces.

WAR OVER

On September 2, Japan signed the formal document of surrender.

The War is Ended!
