The Old San Francisco Mint Helped the City Recover
Only 1 Coin Available!

In 2006, the US Mint produced this uncirculated 90% silver dollar coin in honor of the San Francisco Mint.  The coin celebrated the 100th anniversary of the mint surviving the disastrous 1906 earthquake and fire.  It pictures the building on the front with the inscriptions “Old Mint,” “The Granite Lady,” and “Instrumental in San Francisco’s Recovery.”  (As one of the few buildings standing after the earthquake, it provided shelter for many San Franciscans.)  The back of the coin recreates the 1878-1921 Morgan Dollar – which was produced at the San Francisco Mint for several years.  Fittingly, this commemorative coin was produced at the San Francisco Mint.
