After America took over administration of the Canal Zone, they overprinted Panama and U.S. stamps.  It wasn’t until 1928 that permanent Canal Zone stamps were printed.  They remained in use until 1978 when Panama took over the mail service and previous stamps were declared invalid.  Stamps included may vary.
