*Fun Fact:  Did you know that the cigar box we love today came into use around 1840?  The idea of bundling cigars in uniform boxes was music to the government’s ears.  The boxes  provided a smooth hard surface on which to attach the tax stamp.  Earlier, when cigars were bundled and shipped in larger, irregular batches, they were harder to quantify and tax.

Aside from its 170-year history, the cigar box holds special memories… For those of us who remember the little box covered in advertising stored on our dad’s shelf.  And for those of us lucky enough to have one of our own to store our stamps and other treasures in.  There’s just something special about a cigar box!

Decent selection but too much fillers

Posted by ALVIN TSAO on 1st Jan 2025

I am happy that this is what is as described: a cigar box filled to the brim with stamps and a few other items like post cards. However, I would say about 1/4 of the stamps are filler newer US standard non-unique stamps which I feel is very disappointing. I would not mind some used older or commemorative US stamps but the basic boring US stamps take up way too much room in the box. As such, I cannot give a good review on this.
