Honoring President Barack Obama

This neat sheet features two portraits of America's 44th president, plus his signature and a light stamping of the Presidential seal.  Plus, the circle-shaped stamp is a great, and unusual addition to your collection.

Barack Obama
44th President of the United States

Barack Hussein Obama II, born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 4, 1961, is the first African-American to be elected President of the United States.

Obama’s parents, Ann Dunham of Wichita, Kansas, and Barack Obama, Sr., of Kenya, met while students at the University of Hawaii.  When Barack was two years old, his father left to study at Harvard, and his parents divorced.  Obama’s mother remarried, and in 1967, the family moved to Jakarta, Indonesia.  When Obama was ten, his mother sent him back to America to be raised by his grandparents.

Our 44th President distinguished himself throughout his educational career.  He graduated with honors from the esteemed Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii.  The scholar continued his education at Columbia University, where he earned a degree in political science in 1983.  At Harvard Law School, Obama was singled out to be President of the respected Harvard Law Review, and graduated from that renowned institution with great distinction.

The young lawyer worked as a civil rights attorney and as the Director of the Developing Communities Project in Chicago.  In 1996, he was elected to the Illinois State Senate and served three terms before winning a seat in the U.S. Senate.  As a senator, Obama supported legislation on gun control and immigration reform.  He opposed the Iraq War and drilling in the Arctic Wildlife Refuge.

Obama met his future wife, Michelle Robinson, while working as a civil rights lawyer and a community organizer in Chicago.  They married in 1992, and the couple have two daughters, Malia and Natasha.  Obama went on to be elected to the Illinois State Senate and then to the U.S. Senate.

During a long presidential campaign, Obama offered hope and change to a nation in crisis.  Election day 2008 saw the largest percentage of Americans voting in a hundred years. President Obama was inaugurated in Washington, D.C., on January 20, 2009.
