# H2 - 1851-52 5c Blue Hawaiian Missionary
Own One of the “Rarest and Most Famous Stamps in the World”
~ The 5¢ Hawaiian Missionary ~
Now could be your only chance to add the scarce 1851-52 5¢ Blue Hawaiian Missionary stamp (#H2) to your collection. Only 40 used examples of this elusive stamp are known to exist.
The stamp is a Crocker Type II, the righthand position in the setting of two with a distinctive small “n” in “Cents” that is found only on the 5¢ Type II. As a Type II, the words “Hawaiian” and “Postage” are aligned at the left.
Only Three Known with Crossed Bars Cancellation!
Out #H2 has mostly full margins with a bold Crossed Bars cancel (Type 71 with circle). Its cancellation makes this rare stamp even rarer and more desirable. Only three of the 40 known used examples of Hawaii #2 are cancelled with the Crossed Bars.
Few Hawaiian Missionary stamps are found without repairs, but this stamp is an example. The fragile pelure paper used to print the stamps 170 years ago makes a few minor imperfections inevitable. They include a couple of tiny margin tears and a nearly invisible hinge-sealed horizontal tear at the upper left about halfway across above “Hawaiian.” Despite these minor imperfections, the Hawaii #2 is an outstanding example of a world-class stamp rarity.
As you know, Hawaii #2 paid the 5c half-ounce postage rate to San Fransisco as well as to inland Hawaiian destinations under 3000 miles. It was required to transport a letter from the Honolulu post office to a ship in the harbor, mostly sent by the many American missionaries who came to live in Hawaii and convert the native population. This seldom-seen stamp has made a long journey over land and sea. And it has survived in remarkably good condition, bringing all the history and allure of the Kingdom of Hawaii.
The chances of finding another #H2 as attractive as this are slim to none... If you’re a serious Hawaii collector and want this stamp in your collection, give us a call today before someone else claims it. Interest-free time payments can make your dream of owning the 5¢ Hawaiian Missionary a reality.
