• Up until 1925 the government flew the mail. Then, private companies were contracted, and the 15¢ and 20¢ Biplane Map stamps were issued for that service. Ford was the first contractor that flew mail.

• 1952 80¢ Hawaii Fountainhead stamp paid rate to send an orchid from Hawaii to the States.

• 1947 5¢ airplane shows DC-4 Sky Master, which played a critical role in the Allied war effort and the Berlin Airlift of 1948-49.
