# CNS426 - Elvis Presley "Speedway" US Half Dollar Commemorative Coin
Elvis Presley is rightly called the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Not only was he a singing sensation, he was also a movie star! This coin highlights one of hit films Elvis starred in.
Mystic has permanently bonded a vibrant image of Elvis to this uncirculated US Half Dollar. The coin features an original photograph of Presley from his estate’s official archives along with an image of his signature. The coin is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises.
Speedway
Fast cars, frolicking fun, and song made Speedway a smash hit. As a successful race car driver, Elvis, as Steve Grayson, sings his way around the racing circuit accompanied by real-life NASCAR drivers Richard Petty, Buddy Baker, and Cale Yarborough. Parts of the movie were shot on location at the Charlotte Speedway. Bill Bixby, playing Elvis’ incompetent bookkeeper Kenny Donford, gets them both into trouble with the Internal Revenue Service. Friend and favorite co-star, Nancy Sinatra, plays an IRS agent who Elvis must win over, or come up with a large amount of cash. It makes for rollicking good fun, with Elvis at his most charming.
During the filming, Elvis gave Nancy a car which had “Speedway” painted on one door, and “Starring Nancy and Elvis” on the other. It was while making this picture that Elvis announced that his wife Priscilla was pregnant, stating “This is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.” Nancy Sinatra gave a baby shower for the mother-to-be.
