Double Trouble
Elvis played his own twin in the blockbuster hit, Double Trouble, which opened in April 1967. Elvis plays the part of a rock star on tour in Europe. In the film, he meets a wealthy teenager in London whose uncle is trying to steal her inheritance. Elvis and his twin manage to save the girl and the money. In reality, the film was shot in Los Angeles, as was the movie’s smash hit, “Long Legged Girl,” which spent five weeks on the “Billboard’s” Top 100 list. Elvis waited until the last minute to travel to Los Angeles for the filming, as both his grandmother and uncle Travis were in poor health. His uncle died just three days after Elvis left for Los Angeles. Elvis was unable to return for the funeral because of the shooting schedule.
